Goat Cheese Desserts: A Real Treat, You Know?
Alright, so listen up. We’re gonna talk about goat cheese desserts. Yeah, you heard that right. Goat cheese. Not just for salads and fancy stuff anymore. I tell you, it’s good for sweets too. My old man, he wouldn’t touch the stuff, said it was too “uppity.” But he didn’t know what he was missin’, that’s for sure.

First off, you got them blueberry goat cheese scones. Now, I ain’t made these myself, but my niece, she brought some over once. They was crumbly and sweet, with them little blueberries burstin’ in your mouth. And that goat cheese, it gave it a tang, you know? Not too sweet, not too sour, just right. Perfect with a cup of coffee in the mornin’, or even a little sweet tea in the afternoon.
Then there’s them goat cheese cheesecakes. Now, cheesecake, that’s somethin’ I know. Made plenty in my day. But with goat cheese? That’s somethin’ special. It makes the cheesecake lighter, not so heavy in your belly. And it gives it a little somethin’ extra, a little zing. You can put all sorts of stuff on top too. Berries, honey, even some of that fancy jam they sell in the city. It’s all good, I tell ya.
- Goat cheese ice cream: I ain’t tried this one yet, but I hear it’s mighty fine. Imagine, creamy ice cream with that little bit of goat cheese tang. Sounds like somethin’ you’d eat on a hot summer day, sittin’ on the porch.
- Goat cheese brownies: Now, brownies, them’s good any which way. But with goat cheese? I reckon it makes them even richer, more gooey. You could add some nuts too, or maybe some chocolate chips. Oh, that sounds good, don’t it?
- Goat cheese cupcakes: Little cakes, just the right size for a snack. And you can frost ’em with whatever you want. Buttercream, cream cheese frosting, even just a little bit of honey. The goat cheese makes ’em moist and flavorful.
I remember one time, my neighbor, she made this… what did she call it? Balsamic-Goat Cheese Grilled Plums. Sounded real fancy, but it was just plums, grilled up with some goat cheese and a little bit of that balsamic vinegar stuff. It was surprisingly good, I gotta say. Sweet and savory, all at the same time. Who knew you could do that with plums?
And there’s other ways to eat goat cheese for dessert too. You can just spread it on some crackers, you know, them graham crackers? Or maybe some toast. Drizzle a little honey on top, maybe some fresh fruit if you got it. That’s a simple dessert, but it’s a good one. My grandkids, they love it when I do that. They call it “grandma’s special snack.” Heh, makes me feel good, you know?
I also heard about this veggie omelet with goat cheese, though it ain’t exactly dessert. My friend, she’d make this sometimes, says it saves her time cookin’. Uses leftover veggies from dinner and throws them in the omelet the next morning. Then she puts goat cheese in it! Said it makes it all creamy and tasty. Sounds kinda odd for dessert but maybe for breakfast. I might have to try that sometime.
Some folks say you can put goat cheese with all sorts of things. Honey, lemon, that vinegar stuff, figs, garlic, herbs, cherries, even that olive oil. Sounds like a lot of fuss to me, but I guess it works. Goat cheese is versatile, they say. You can put it in salads, on pizza, in pasta, on bread, or just eat it with fruit. They even drink wine with it, that sour kind of wine. Me, I like it best with somethin’ sweet, you know?
And there’s another fancy dish, Artichoke Lemon Pasta. A friend who went sailin’ in some foreign place, Europe she called it, somewhere in Italy, tasted it. She said it was lemony and had artichokes and pasta, of course. Not quite dessert, but sound fancy like them goat cheese plum things. Maybe I can make my own version, a simpler one, you know, without all the fuss. Just pasta, some lemon, and a bit of that goat cheese. That oughta be tasty.

So, there you have it. Goat cheese ain’t just for fancy folks. It’s for everybody. And it ain’t just for salads and such. It’s for desserts too. You can make all sorts of things with it. Or you can just keep it simple, spread it on a cracker, and call it a day. It’s all good, I tell ya. Just don’t tell my old man I said so. He’d roll over in his grave. But he’d be missin’ out, that’s for sure.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I think I’ll go make myself some goat cheese and crackers. All this talk about desserts has got me hungry.
