Well, let me tell ya, this here goat cheese desserts thing, it’s a new one on me. But I heard the young folks talkin’ ’bout it, and it got me thinkin’. Goat cheese, huh? We always just used it plain, on bread or with some veggies. But desserts? That’s somethin’ else.
I reckon if you can make a pie outta apples, you can make somethin’ sweet with goat cheese. First thing I saw was somethin’ called a “crostini”. Sounds fancy, but it’s just little pieces of toasted bread. This one, they put some whipped goat cheese on top. Whipped! Like you do with cream. And then they put somethin’ “decadent” on top of that. I don’t rightly know what that means, but it sounds rich. Maybe some honey or fruit, I’d guess.

Then there’s this raspberry goat cheese cheesecake. Now, cheesecake I know. My momma used to make a good one. But with goat cheese? That’s a head-scratcher. They say it sounds strange, but maybe it’s good. Raspberries, I like those. We used to pick ’em wild down by the creek. They’d stain your fingers somethin’ fierce, but they sure were tasty.
- Mix the Cheese
- Beat the goat cheese
- Beat the cream cheese
- Beat some cinnamon
Now, how do they make these things? This one says you gotta “mix the cheese”. Okay, I can do that. Then it says “beat the goat cheese, cream cheese, cinnamon”. Beat it, huh? Guess you gotta get it all nice and smooth. Cinnamon, that’s a good idea. Always makes things taste a little special. You can buy crumbled goat cheese, also you can buy a roll of goat cheese. Both are ok.
They also got somethin’ called “tartlets”. Little tiny tarts, I suppose. Says this goat cheese is “easy to work with”. Well, that’s good. And it makes a “beautiful base” for these tartlets. Whatever that means. I reckon it holds its shape good. They say for “best results,” but they don’t tell ya what to do! Just “best results.” Young folks these days, always in a hurry.
They say these goat cheese things are sweet and savory. Sweet, I get. Savory… that’s like, not sweet, right? So it’s both? I guess that could be good. Like when you put salt on your watermelon. Brings out the sweetness. Maybe it is a good idea after all, this goat cheese desserts.
Now, this “chèvre” thing. That’s just another word for goat cheese. Fancy word, though. They say it’s white and crumbly. Well, yeah, most goat cheese is. And it’s always showin’ up on beet salad. Beets, we used to grow those. Big, red, earthy things. Good for pickling. Never thought to put goat cheese on ’em, though.
Good fresh goat cheese, they say, should be “moist and creamy, without a hint of graininess.” Well, of course. Nobody wants grainy cheese. Like sand in your teeth. My old goat, Bess, she used to give the best milk. Made the creamiest cheese. Miss that old goat.
They say goat cheese has a “rich, tangy flavor.” Tangy, yes. That’s the goat. You can use goat cheese with pizza, with pasta sauces. You can put it on toast, also you can put it into chicken and turkey. You can put it over salads, too. It’s good, I reckon. Adds a little somethin’ extra. Like a good pinch of salt. Brings out the flavor of everythin’ else.

- goat cheese desserts is good.
- You can make it sweet.
- You can make it savory.
- Good fresh goat cheese is creamy.
- Goat cheese is tangy.
So, this goat cheese desserts thing… maybe it ain’t so strange after all. Maybe it’s like those newfangled coffee drinks they got now. Sounds weird at first, but then you try it, and it’s kinda good. I might just have to give it a try. If I can find some of that “decadent” stuff to put on top, whatever that is.
I reckon, if you are lookin’ for a new kind of desserts, you can try this goat cheese desserts. Maybe it is good. Try it and find out!
