So, I have been craving some good Chinese takeout lately. I stumbled upon this place called Golden Cuisine, and let me tell you, it has been a journey. I first heard about it through some online reviews, and the address kept popping up: 679 N Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19123.
I tried calling them up. Dialed 215-769-1099, no answer the first few times, but I was persistent. Finally got through and talked to someone. I also found an email address: Mindyliu875@*. Figured I’d shoot them an email to see if that was any better, but it was not. No response.
Their hours are pretty standard for a takeout joint. It said online they are open from 11:00 am to 11:45 pm, Monday through Saturday. This worked for me as I was pretty flexible with my schedule.
I decided to go down there in person. Found the place no problem, it is a small, unassuming spot. You could easily miss it if you were not looking. It looks just like a typical Chinese takeout place, nothing fancy.
Walked in, and it was pretty quiet. I looked around and the menu was on the wall, your standard Chinese-American fare. I saw all the usual suspects: General Tso’s Chicken, Lo Mein, Fried Rice, you know, the works. They also had some noodle dishes that I did not recognize, which piqued my interest.
I ended up ordering a bunch of stuff: some egg rolls, wonton soup, beef and broccoli, and a spicy noodle dish I had never tried before. The guy at the counter took my order, and I paid, the prices were reasonable.
The wait was not too long, maybe 15-20 minutes. I watched them cook through the open kitchen, which was kind of cool. Everything looked and smelled fresh. Got my food, and it was packed up nice and tight in those classic white takeout containers.
Got it home, and it was still piping hot. Everything tasted pretty good. The egg rolls were crispy, the soup was flavorful, and the beef and broccoli were solid. That spicy noodle dish was the real star though, it was really good and had just the right amount of heat.

Overall, it was a good experience. I would say Golden Cuisine is a solid choice if you are in the area and looking for some decent Chinese takeout. It is not the best I have ever had, but it definitely hit the spot. It is not a place you would go for a fancy dinner, but for a quick and easy meal, it is perfect. I will probably go back, especially for those noodles. It’s now in my regular rotation of takeout spots.
