So, I’ve been itching to get out of the city and into the woods lately. You know, breathe in some fresh air, sleep under the stars, and eat some good grub. And let me tell you, when it comes to camping, the food situation can be a real game-changer. I mean, who wants to munch on sad, squished sandwiches and lukewarm trail mix all weekend? Not me, that’s for sure.
This time, I decided to level up my camping dessert game. I wanted something that would be a real treat after a long day of hiking and exploring, something that would make the whole experience even more memorable. So I did a little digging, you know, scrolled through some blogs, watched a few videos, and stumbled upon some seriously drool-worthy ideas.

First up, I tried the Camping Smores Dutch Oven Brownies. Oh boy, these were a hit! I prepped the dry ingredients at home, you know, the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, all that good stuff. Then, at the campsite, I got the Dutch oven nice and hot over the coals. Mixed in the wet ingredients – melted butter, eggs, a splash of vanilla – and then the dry stuff, stirring until it was all nice and combined, looking like a delicious chocolatey batter. Threw in some mini marshmallows and chocolate chips for good measure, ’cause why not? Then, I carefully spread some graham cracker squares on top. Covered it up and let it bake until the brownies were fudgy and gooey, and the marshmallows were perfectly toasted. Let me tell you, the smell alone was enough to make everyone at the campsite drool. I used a stick to check if the brownies were done. If it comes out clean it is time for it! And when we finally dug in? Pure bliss. It was like a campfire s’more and a brownie had a baby, and it was the most delicious thing ever.
But I didn’t stop there. I also whipped up some Campfire Banana Boats. These were super easy and fun to make. I just grabbed some bananas, sliced them lengthwise but not all the way through, you know, so they stayed in one piece. Then I stuffed them with all sorts of goodies – mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, peanut butter, even some chopped nuts. Wrapped each banana in foil, like a little banana sleeping bag, and tossed them on the hot coals. After a few minutes, the bananas got all soft and sweet, and the fillings melted into a gooey, delicious mess. We ate them straight out of the foil, using spoons to scoop up every last bit. It was like a warm, comforting hug in dessert form. I tried 9 ways to make it! The taste was all amazing!
My little tips
- Get the fire going early. You want a nice bed of hot coals for baking, not raging flames.
- Don’t be afraid to experiment! Camping desserts are all about having fun and getting creative.
- Pack it all right. You don’t want your marshmallows to melt before you even get to the campsite. Ziploc bags are your best friends.
Honestly, these desserts totally elevated our camping trip. Sitting around the campfire, sharing stories, and indulging in these sweet treats – it just doesn’t get any better than that. Trust me, if you’re planning a camping trip, you gotta try these recipes. They’re easy, delicious, and guaranteed to make your trip even more awesome.
