Okay, so, graduation was coming up, and I really wanted to do something special for my kid. I mean, this is a big deal, right? So, I started thinking about throwing a party, a real celebration.
I knew I wanted to have some really killer desserts. Not just your regular cake and cookies, but something that would really wow everyone. After some serious thinking, I figured, why not make a whole dessert spread? A graduation-themed one, of course!

First thing I did was hit up the internet. I needed some inspiration, some ideas to get those creative juices flowing. I searched for “graduation dessert recipes” and, man, did I find a gold mine! There were so many cool ideas out there, from graduation cap cupcakes to these awesome-looking chocolate-covered Oreos. I was getting pretty excited, not gonna lie.
I started jotting down some ideas, making a list of all the things I wanted to make. I decided to go with a mix of classic treats and some more unique, graduation-themed stuff. Here’s what I ended up with:
- Chocolate Covered Oreos: I mean, who doesn’t love Oreos? And covering them in chocolate just takes them to a whole other level. Plus, I could drizzle some white chocolate on top to make them look extra fancy.
- Graduation Cap Cupcakes: These seemed like a must-have. I figured I’d just bake a batch of regular cupcakes, then use some square chocolate pieces and tassels made out of fruit roll-ups to create the caps.
- Candy-Filled Waffle Cones: This one was a bit more out there, but I thought it would be fun. The idea was to fill waffle cones with a mix of colorful candies, kind of like a sweet, edible cornucopia.
With my plan in place, I made a grocery list and went shopping. I got all the ingredients I needed: Oreos, chocolate, cupcake mix, frosting, square chocolate pieces, fruit roll-ups, waffle cones, and a whole bunch of candy. I was ready to roll up my sleeves and start baking.
The first thing I made were the chocolate-covered Oreos. I melted down some chocolate, dipped each Oreo in, and then set them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool. Once they were solid, I melted some white chocolate, put it in a piping bag, and drizzled it over the Oreos. They looked amazing!
Next up, the cupcakes. I baked the cupcakes according to the box instructions, and while they were cooling, I started working on the graduation caps. I used a knife to trim the square chocolate pieces to the right size, and then I cut the fruit roll-ups into thin strips to make the tassels. Once the cupcakes were cool, I frosted them and then carefully placed the chocolate squares on top. I used a little bit of frosting to “glue” the tassels to the caps. These cupcakes turned out so cute!
Finally, the candy-filled waffle cones. This was the easiest part. I just filled each waffle cone with a mix of colorful candies. I tried to make them look as festive as possible, using a variety of colors and shapes.
I arranged all the desserts on a big table, and it looked fantastic. The chocolate-covered Oreos, the graduation cap cupcakes, the candy-filled waffle cones, all these great desserts in one spot, looking real festive. I also added some other snacks and drinks to complete the spread. The party was a huge success. Everyone loved the desserts, and my kid was really happy. It was a lot of work, but seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces made it all worth it. Honestly, I was pretty proud of how everything turned out.

So that’s my story of making a bunch of graduation desserts. It was a fun, delicious, and definitely memorable experience. I am so happy with how everything turned out!
