Okay, so I’ve been wanting to try making something with venison for a while. I finally got my hands on some hot Italian venison sausage, and let me tell you, it was a game changer! I’m going to walk you through what I did, and hopefully, you’ll be inspired to give it a shot.

Getting Started

First things first, I gathered my ingredients. Obviously, the star of the show was the hot Italian venison sausage. I also grabbed:

Hot Italian Venison Sausage Recipes:Amazing Dinner
  • One large onion, chopped
  • A couple of bell peppers (I used red and yellow for color)
  • A can of crushed tomatoes
  • Some garlic, minced (because everything’s better with garlic!)
  • Olive oil
  • Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper
  • A little bit of red pepper flakes (for an extra kick)
  • Some pasta – I went with penne, but you can use whatever you like.

Cooking it Up

I started by heating up a little olive oil in a big pan over medium-high heat. Once it was hot, I tossed in the sausage and cooked it until it was nicely browned. I took the sausage out of the pan and set it aside for a bit.

Next, I added the chopped onion and bell peppers to the same pan. I let those cook until they were soft and starting to brown, just stirring occasionally. Then, in went the minced garlic. I cooked that for about a minute, just until it was smelling really good.

After that, I poured in the can of crushed tomatoes. I added the Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. I stirred everything together and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, just to let the flavors all mix together.

While the sauce was simmering, I sliced up the cooked sausage into bite-sized pieces. Then added the cooked and sliced sausage to the tomato mixture

Bringing It All Together

Once the sauce had simmered, I added the sausage back into the pan. I let it all cook together for another 5 minutes or so, just to heat the sausage through.

In the meantime, I cooked the pasta according to the package directions. Once it was done, I drained it and added it to the pan with the sausage and sauce. I tossed everything together until the pasta was nicely coated.

The Final Result

And that’s it! I served it up with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese and some fresh basil on top. It was seriously delicious – the venison sausage had so much flavor, and the heat from the red pepper flakes was perfect. It’s definitely a recipe I’ll be making again!
