How to Make Allrecipes Chicken Pot Pie IX at Home

Alright, let’s talk about this here chicken pot pie thing, like that allrecipes chicken pot pie ix or whatever. I ain’t no fancy cook, mind you, just a plain ol’ woman who likes to eat good food. And this here pie, well, it’s right tasty, if you make it right.

First off, you gotta get yourself some chicken. Now, don’t go buyin’ no pre-cooked stuff. Get a whole chicken if you can, boil it up till it’s fallin’ off the bone. That’s how you get the real flavor, ya know? None of that rubbery chicken in my pie! Good chicken is the key! If you ain’t got a whole chicken, I guess some chicken breasts will do, but it just ain’t the same.

Then you need some veggies. I like carrots, the little ones, and peas. Some folks put in celery, too, but I ain’t a big fan. Boil them up with the chicken, not too long though, you don’t want ‘em mushy. Just enough to get ‘em tender.

  • Chicken, cooked and shredded
  • Carrots, chopped
  • Peas
  • Maybe some celery, if you’re into that

Now, for the gravy, that’s where the magic happens. You need some butter, flour, chicken broth – that stuff you boiled the chicken in, don’t you dare throw it out! – and some milk. Melt that butter in a big pot, stir in the flour, make it nice and smooth. Then slowly pour in the chicken broth, stirrin’ all the while so it don’t get lumpy. Add in some milk, make it creamy, ya know? Season it up with salt and pepper, maybe a little bit of thyme if you got some. But don’t go crazy with the spices, this ain’t no fancy restaurant food.

Then you mix the chicken and veggies into the gravy, pour it all into a pie dish. You gotta use a good pie dish, not one of them flimsy things. Top it with a crust. Now, you can make your own crust, but I ain’t got time for that. Store-bought is just fine. Just make sure it’s a good one, flaky and golden brown. Cut some slits in the top so the steam can escape, otherwise, it’ll explode all over your oven, and then you’ll have a real mess on your hands.

Bake it in the oven till the crust is golden brown and bubbly. Let it sit for a bit before you cut into it, otherwise, it’ll all fall apart. And that’s it. A good, old-fashioned chicken pot pie. Nothing fancy, just good, honest food. It’ll fill you up and warm you up on a cold day, that’s for sure. Kids love it, too. Always a good thing for a family dinner. My grandkids, they go crazy for it. Always askin’ me to make my “special pie”. It ain’t special, I tell ‘em, just good food.

Some folks like to add potatoes, or mushrooms, or whatever else they got laying around. Go ahead, I say. It’s your pie, you can put whatever you want in it. That’s the beauty of cooking, ya know? You can make it your own. But the basic recipe, that’s the same. Chicken, veggies, gravy, crust. That’s all you need. And a whole lotta love, of course. You gotta cook with love, that’s the secret ingredient.

And don’t forget to taste it as you go. That’s how you know if it’s right. Add more salt if it needs it, more pepper, more whatever. Your taste buds are the best judge, not some fancy recipe book. I learned to cook from my mama, and she didn’t use no recipe books. She just cooked by feel, ya know? And that’s how I do it too. And that’s why my chicken pot pie is the best darn chicken pot pie you ever did taste, even if it is just that simple allrecipes chicken pot pie ix thing.

So go on, give it a try. You might just surprise yourself. It ain’t hard, just takes a little time and a little patience. And you’ll have a delicious meal that the whole family will enjoy. Trust me on this one, I know what I’m talkin’ about.
