Okay, so yesterday I was craving some good Chinese food, and I remembered this place downtown called Hunan Palace. I’d heard good things, so I figured, why not give it a shot? I looked them up online first, just to make sure they were open and get a feel for the menu.
Checking Out the Menu
Their menu was pretty extensive! Lots of the usual suspects, like Kung Pao Chicken and General Tso’s, but also some dishes I hadn’t seen before. I was feeling adventurous, so I decided to try something new.
Ordering and Waiting
I gave them a call and placed my order. The person on the phone was super friendly, which is always a plus. I ordered a couple of appetizers, the egg rolls looked, and for my main course, I went with the Hunan Triple Delight – seemed fitting, given the restaurant’s name, right? They said it would be about 20-25 minutes, which was fine by me.
Picking Up the Food
I hopped in my car and drove down there. Parking was a little tricky, had to circle the block a couple of times, but I finally found a spot. The restaurant itself looked pretty nice from the outside, clean and inviting. I went inside, and the aroma, oh man, it hit me right away – that delicious, savory smell of Chinese cooking.
I told them my name, and my order was ready and waiting. Paid for it, grabbed the bag, and headed back home, stomach rumbling the whole way.
The Feast Begins!
Got everything unpacked, and it all looked amazing. The egg rolls were crispy, not soggy like some places. And the Hunan Triple Delight? It was awesome! It had chicken, beef, and shrimp, all in this spicy, flavorful sauce with a bunch of veggies. I have to say, I was impressed.
The Portion:
- Generous size! I had enough left over.
Final Thoughts
I ate like a king. All in all, I was really happy with my Hunan Palace experience. The food was great, the service was friendly, and the price was reasonable. I’ll definitely be going back there again, I might even try something else new next time!
