Well, let me tell ya, there’s this drink called the “jm thompson orange beverage,” but folks mostly know it as Orange Crush. Now, if you’ve ever had a sip, you know it’s one of them fizzy, orange-flavored drinks that gets your taste buds all excited. Don’t matter if you’re young or old, everyone loves a bit of that sweet, tangy goodness! But let me tell you, it didn’t just pop up outta nowhere, nope. There’s a long history behind this here drink, and it all started way back in 1906.

JM Thompsons Orange Beverage: The Origins of Orange Crush in 1906

So, the story goes, this fella named J.M. Thompson, who was a chemist from Chicago, came up with the first formula for this tasty drink. Back then, folks didn’t have fancy bottled drinks like we got now, but ol’ J.M. thought, “Why not make a drink that tastes like oranges but without all the hassle of peeling ’em?” And that’s just what he did! He mixed up some good ol’ chemicals, fruits, and all sorts of things to make a drink that’d make people say, “Yum!”

Now, I ain’t no scientist, but from what I know, J.M. Thompson’s drink didn’t stay the same for long. It wasn’t until Neil C. Ward, a chemist out in Los Angeles, that the drink really started to get its fizz. Neil added his magic touch to it and made it just right, turning it into the orange drink we know and love today. So, you can say, this orange beverage is a combination of two smart folks who knew how to make something taste good.

But hold on, it ain’t just about how it was made, ya see. Over the years, this drink grew into a brand, and the Crush brand, including the Orange Crush, became pretty big. If you head on over to Canada, you’ll see that they drink it a lot there too. It’s all part of a big company now, Keurig Dr Pepper, which runs outta Frisco, Texas. They’re the ones who own the Crush name, and it’s still goin’ strong today. Heck, even in places like Mexico, you can find the classic Orange Crush in glass bottles, all sweetened up with sugar. Now, that’s a treat!

But here’s somethin’ that might surprise ya—there’s been a bit of drama over the years over the name “Orange Crush.” Ya see, there was a legal battle between the folks who made Orange Crush and some other companies tryin’ to make drinks with a similar name, like Suncrush. The courts had to step in and decide who gets to use the name. Now, that’s some serious business, but I reckon it just shows how much people love that drink!

So, what makes Orange Crush so special? Well, it’s that bright, citrusy flavor. When you crack open a can or a bottle, you can just smell the oranges before you even take a sip. It’s got that perfect balance of sweet and tart, and the fizz just makes it all come together. Whether you’re sittin’ on the porch in the summer heat or enjoyin’ a cold one at a family get-together, Orange Crush has been a go-to drink for many folks.

Now, I don’t want to go on too much about the fancy details, but it’s interesting to note that the formula for making Orange Crush is still a secret. They keep it locked up tight, just like any good recipe should be! But one thing’s for sure—it’s a drink that’s stood the test of time. From 1906 all the way to today, folks are still drinkin’ it and lovin’ it.

And if ya ever get a chance, try one of them glass bottles from Mexico. They say it’s even better than the regular cans or bottles. It’s got that old-school feel to it, and it’s just as good as when J.M. Thompson first dreamed it up all those years ago.

In the end, whether you call it “jm thompson orange beverage,” Orange Crush, or just “that orange drink,” it’s a part of history. So next time you crack open a bottle, just remember, you’re drinkin’ something that’s been around for over a century, and it’s still as refreshing as ever. Ain’t that somethin’ to be proud of?
