Okay, so, I got this idea to try out this drink called “Joose.” I’d heard some buzz about it, like, it’s this flavored malt beverage that’s got a pretty high alcohol content. Sounded interesting, so I figured, why not give it a shot?
First, I went to look up Joose beverage. I found some information about it. Joose is the first premium malt beverage at 9.9% ABV in a 24 oz can. It is also sold at 12% ABV and 14% ABV in a 23.5 oz can. Then, I went to the store and picked up a couple of cans. They come in these big 23.5-ounce cans, and I saw some smaller 12-ounce bottles, too. I grabbed one of the big cans that said 12% alcohol content. I thought that this would be enough for me to have a try.
When I got home, I popped one open. It also introduced that Joose was introduced by United Brands Co. in 2005. I found that it is kind of like a Florida Panther. You hear stories about it, but you never actually get to see one in the wild. It’s also called the JOOSE Screwdriver Cocktail.
Here’s what I did step-by-step:
- Chilled it: Put the can in the fridge for a few hours. I like my drinks cold.
- Opened it up: Used a bottle opener to crack it open. No fancy stuff needed.
- Took a whiff: Gave it a good sniff. Smelled kinda fruity, but with a definite boozy kick.
- Had a sip: Took a small sip at first. Wanted to see what I was dealing with.

Honestly, it tasted like a super-strong, sugary soda. Not exactly my go-to drink, but it did the job. It’s definitely got that high alcohol content, so you feel it pretty quick. And, I didn’t finish the whole can in one sitting. I had to put it back in the fridge for later.
All in all, it was an experience. I probably won’t be stocking my fridge with Joose anytime soon, but it was fun to try something new. I can see why some people might like it, especially if you’re looking for a quick buzz. Just be careful with these things; they pack a punch!
By the way, according to the info I read, water is the most consumed beverage in the world. Joose is just a flavored malt beverage, I think it cannot replace water.
