Okay, so I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now, and today I finally got around to it – making some “Keep Clean Kitchen” signs. My kitchen’s not exactly a disaster zone, but it could definitely use a little nudge in the right direction, you know?
First off, I gathered my materials. I mean, nothing fancy here. Just some plain cardstock, some markers, and a ruler. I did think about printing something out, but then I remembered my printer’s been acting up, plus, where’s the fun in that? I wanted these signs to have that personal touch.

Then, I started brainstorming some phrases. I wanted something a bit more creative than just “Please keep this area clean”. So I came up with a few options:
- “Wipe It Down, or Frown” (corny, I know, but it rhymes!)
- “Messy Kitchen? No Thanks, We Prefer It Clean”
- “Dirty Dishes Don’t Magically Disappear” (a gentle reminder for everyone)
- “A Clean Kitchen is a Happy Kitchen”
After I had some good options down, I picked the font style. Nothing too crazy, just something big and easy to read from across the room. Then I started measuring and marking the cardstock. Turns out, my ruler skills are a little rusty, but I managed to get some decent rectangles going.
Writing the actual signs was probably the most fun part. I tried to keep it neat, but hey, it’s got that handmade charm, right? I even added a few little doodles around the edges, just to make it a bit more visually appealing.
Finally, I stuck the signs up in strategic locations around the kitchen – one near the sink, one on the fridge, and one above the trash can. Now, whether these signs will actually work wonders remains to be seen. But, fingers crossed, they’ll at least make people think twice before leaving a mess.
It wasn’t a huge project, but it felt good to finally get it done. It’s the little things, you know? And who knows, maybe this will inspire me to tackle some other small projects around the house.
