Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get my kitchen in order for, like, forever. It’s always a mess, and I just can’t seem to keep up with it. I finally decided to do something about it, so I started looking for a good way to tackle this mess.
I found this “kitchen cleaning checklist” thing online, and figured, why not give it a shot? It’s a PDF, so I just printed it out. It breaks down all the cleaning tasks into different categories, like daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly. I thought that was kinda cool, a good way to organize things and not get overwhelmed.

Daily Stuff
The daily stuff is pretty basic. First, I washed all the dishes that were piled up in the sink. Then I cleared off the countertops. It’s amazing how much junk accumulates there. After that, I just wiped down all the surfaces with some cleaner I found under the sink.
- Wash dishes
- Declutter countertops
- Wipe down surfaces
- Sanitize cutting boards
Weekly Grind
For the weekly tasks, I cleaned the microwave. I found the best method is to use a bowl of water with a bit of lemon juice in it to loosen up the gunk. Then I scrubbed the stovetop and oven. This one took a while, not gonna lie. I also mopped the floor. There’s something satisfying about seeing a clean, shiny floor.
- Clean microwave
- Scrub stovetop and oven
- Mop the floor
Monthly Deep Clean
The monthly stuff is where it gets real. I cleaned out the fridge, tossing out anything that looked funky or expired. Then, I wiped down all the shelves and drawers. I also cleaned the dishwasher. Who knew you had to clean the thing that cleans things? Anyway, I just ran a cycle with some vinegar, and it seemed to do the trick. The checklist also said to clean the garbage disposal, so I tossed some ice cubes and lemon peels down there and ran it. Smelled way better after that.
- Clean out the fridge
- Wipe down fridge shelves and drawers
- Clean the dishwasher
- Clean the garbage disposal
Quarterly Chores
Lastly, the quarterly tasks. These are the things you don’t do often, but are necessary. I cleaned out the pantry, checking for expired items and organizing everything. It’s amazing how much stuff I had in there that I totally forgot about. I also cleaned the light fixtures and washed the curtains. Dust really builds up in those places.
- Clean out pantry
- Clean light fixtures
- Wash curtains
So, yeah, that’s basically it. It took a while, and I was pretty tired by the end of it, but it was totally worth it. My kitchen looks and smells so much better now. I’m actually kind of proud of myself. Using that checklist really helped me stay on track and not get sidetracked. I’m definitely going to keep using it, maybe not every single item, every single time, but it’s a good guide. I might even start tackling other rooms in the house using a similar system. We’ll see!
