Alright, let’s talk about those kitchen closets and cabinets. I finally tackled that project I’d been putting off for ages, and man, it was a journey.
First off, I started by emptying everything out. Seriously, everything. Pots, pans, spices, the works. I piled it all onto the kitchen table, which immediately made me realize how much stuff I actually had. A good portion of it was expired or just plain unnecessary. Time for a purge!

Next, I grabbed my cleaning supplies. We’re talking all-purpose cleaner, degreaser, the whole shebang. I scrubbed those shelves and cabinet interiors like my life depended on it. Years of accumulated crumbs and sticky spills were no match for my elbow grease (and a little bit of magic eraser, let’s be honest).
Then came the fun part: organization. I invested in some shelf organizers, lazy Susans, and drawer dividers. These are game-changers, I tell ya. I grouped similar items together – baking supplies with baking supplies, spices with spices, etc. I placed the things I use most often within easy reach and the less frequently used stuff higher up or in the back.
For the cabinet doors, I decided to give them a fresh coat of paint. They were looking a little dingy. I chose a nice, bright white to lighten up the kitchen. After sanding, priming, and two coats of paint, they looked brand new! I even replaced the old hardware with some modern knobs and pulls – a small detail that made a big difference.
The pantry closet was a beast of its own. I installed some adjustable shelves to maximize the vertical space. I also used clear plastic bins to store snacks and dry goods. This way, I can easily see what I have on hand and avoid buying duplicates (which, let’s face it, I’m totally guilty of doing).
Finally, after a whole weekend of work, I loaded everything back into the cabinets and closet. It was so satisfying to see everything in its place, neat and organized. Now, when I open a cabinet, I can actually find what I’m looking for without having to dig through a mountain of clutter.
The whole process was tiring, but totally worth it. A well-organized kitchen makes cooking and meal prep so much easier and more enjoyable. Plus, it just looks darn good! I definitely recommend giving your kitchen cabinets and closets some love – you won’t regret it.
