Okay, so my kitchen desk was a total disaster zone. I’m talking piles of mail, random gadgets, and enough crumbs to feed a small army of ants. It got to the point where I couldn’t even find my actual desk surface. Something had to change, so I decided to tackle it head-on.
The Purge
First, I took everything off the desk. And I mean everything. This was the scary part, because it revealed just how much junk I had accumulated. I made three piles: keep, donate, and trash. This was tough, but I was ruthless. Old receipts? Trash. Pens that didn’t work? Trash. That weird kitchen gadget I used once three years ago? Donate.

The Clean-Up
With the desk finally clear, I gave it a good scrubbing. Seriously, I don’t think I’d properly cleaned it in months. I used some all-purpose cleaner and a damp cloth, and it made a huge difference. It was actually… shiny!
The Organization
Now for the fun part – putting things back, but in a way that actually made sense. I thought about that i need on hand at this desk.
- Pens and Pencils:I Found a cute little mug I wasn’t using and Put all my writing utensils in there.
- Notebooks:I have a few notebooks I use regularly for recipes and meal planning. I stacked those neatly in one corner.
- Mail: I got a small letter organizer to keep incoming mail from piling up again. Bills, junk mail, everything goes in there until I have time to sort it.
- Chargers: I’m always losing my phone charger, so I designated a specific spot for it on the desk and made sure the cord was neatly tucked away.
- Laptop Stand:I work a lot so i Put it at the correct angle.
The Finishing Touches
I added a small plant – a little bit of greenery always makes a space feel more inviting. And I made a conscious effort to keep the surface clear of clutter going forward. It’s all about forming good habits, right?
Honestly, it’s amazing how much better I feel just having a clean and organized workspace. It’s like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Now, if I could just keep it this way…
