So, my best friend was getting married, and I was completely stumped on what to get her. I mean, this girl has everything, right? I scrolled through endless online stores, feeling totally lost.
Then it hit me – she and her fiancé are huge foodies! They love cooking together, trying new recipes, the whole nine yards. A kitchen-themed gift it was!

First, I considered getting them a fancy knife set. I read some reviews and found a nice Wüsthof Gourmet 10-Piece Knife Block Set that seemed pretty solid. But then I thought, “Nah, too basic.” I wanted something more unique, you know?
I started browsing personalized gifts, thinking it would add a special touch. Came across a custom Mr. & Mrs. wedding plate, which was kind of cute. I also saw personalized wine chillers and even a bean bag toss game with their names on it. The idea was good, but I wasn’t sure if they’d actually use them.
Then I remembered a conversation we had a while back about how they wanted to take cooking classes together. Bingo! I decided to go with an “experience” gift. I found a well-regarded cooking school nearby and bought them a gift certificate for a couples’ cooking class. They could choose the cuisine and date, which made it even better.
But I didn’t want to show up to the wedding with just a piece of paper. I wanted to make it at least visually in line with the kitchen theme, so I also got them a beautiful wedding cake serving set. Nothing fancy, but a simple set that they could use on the wedding cake or after. This way, they had something tangible to open, and the experience to look forward to.
On the wedding day, I presented my gift. They loved it! They were so excited about the cooking class and thought the cake serving set was a sweet touch. Seeing them so happy made all the gift-hunting stress worth it. To this day, they always tell me how much fun they have with their cooking class.
- Main Gift: Gift certificate for a couples’ cooking class
- Bonus: Wedding cake serving set
Takeaway?
Don’t be afraid to think outside the box when it comes to wedding gifts. Sometimes, the best presents aren’t things, but experiences that couples can enjoy together. Oh, and a little personalization never hurts!
