Alright, let’s talk about this place, Kool Runnings Jamaican Cuisine. I’ve heard some good things, so I decided to check it out. They say it’s been around since 2015, a family-owned spot, and their Rasta Pasta is the bomb.
So, I went to their location at 5450 Peachtree Pkwy in Norcross. I figured I gotta try that famous Rasta Pasta, right? When I got there, the first thing I did was look around the place. Not bad, got that homey vibe. Then I went straight for the menu.

- Carrot Juice – Sounded healthy, so I got one.
- Callaloo & Saltfish – Never tried it before, so why not?
- Plantain – You can’t go wrong with plantains.
- Curry Chicken – A classic.
- Jamaican coco bread – They say it goes well with patties, got 9 pieces.
The Menu
I ordered a bunch of stuff ’cause I wanted to try everything. The Carrot Juice was, well, carroty. The Callaloo & Saltfish was something new for my taste buds, kinda liked it. The Plantains were sweet and cooked just right. The Curry Chicken, man, that was good. And those coco bread pieces were perfect for dipping.
And then, the star of the show, the Rasta Pasta. I got a large order and asked them to customize it. Added some meat and some shrimp. It was a big plate, no sides included, but who needs sides when you have this much pasta? It was creamy, it was flavorful, it was everything they said it would be.
I ate until I couldn’t anymore. I was stuffed, but in a good way. They weren’t kidding about the freshness and the home-style cooking. It felt like I was eating at a friend’s house, a friend who’s a really good cook.
I gotta say, I understand why people like this place. It’s not just hype. The food is good, the portions are generous, and the people are friendly. I’ll definitely be going back. I still need to try their other dishes. And maybe another large order of that Rasta Pasta. For research purposes, of course.
So, yeah, if you’re in Norcross and you’re craving some good Jamaican food, give Kool Runnings a try. You might just find your new favorite spot.
That’s it for my food adventure today. I had a blast and my stomach is definitely thanking me for that. If anyone else has been to Kool Runnings, let me know what you think! Always looking for more recommendations.
