Okay, so I’ve been wanting to try out some Salvadoran food for a while now. I finally decided to just go for it today, and man, it was an adventure! I’m no expert, but I figured, why not try and document my stumbling journey.
Finding the Goods
First things first, I needed to find some recipes. I started googling “Salvadoran cuisine recipes” and I found several common recipes, and browsed through a bunch of them. I picked a few that seemed doable, specifically Pupusas, and some sides.

The Next, I needed ingredients. The easy stuff like salt, pepper, eggs, I had at hand, and I went to the grocery store for the rest.
Making the Pupusas
I started prepping the dough. I carefully mixed them following the instructions I found. It took a little to get the dough into the right, pliable form.
I made the fillings I chose, and carefully put them into the middle of each dough. It got a little messy, but eventually, I started to get the hang of it, folding, and flattening them into shape.
Cooking and Taste Test
I heated up my pan and tossed the first pupusa on. After some trial and error I found the right heat and cooking time. Finally I finished cooking all of them.
I served them up and took my first bite. Hey, not bad! Seriously, it was pretty good! The flavors were all mixing together, it was warm and satisfying.

The sides were also came out well!
Final Thoughts
It was a good experience and I’m pretty proud of what I made!
