Hey there, honey. Let me tell you, I know a thing or two about good eatin’. And when it comes to barbecue, that sauce, oh that Scott’s barbecue sauce, it’s the secret ingredient that makes everything taste just right. You wanna know what’s in it? Well, sit down, and let me spill the beans.

First off, you gotta have vinegar. Not just any vinegar, mind you. Some folks like that apple cider vinegar, says it’s sweet and tangy. Me? I’m okay with any vinegar cause, you know, it will be delicious anyway. And that vinegar, it’s what gives the sauce that little kick, that tang that wakes up your taste buds.

Then there’s the tomato. Now, some folks, they like to use fresh tomatoes, all chopped up and simmered down. But me, I find that tomato paste does the trick just fine. It’s thick, it’s rich, and it gives the sauce that beautiful red color. And sometimes you gotta add a little water to make it sauce, not paste, you know.

And you can’t forget the sugar, honey. Gotta have a little sweetness to balance out that vinegar tang. Some people use brown sugar, some use white. Some use molasses or honey even, you know, any sugar. I heard some people also use corn syrup, and I think it’s a kind of sugar too. Me? I just use whatever’s in my pantry. It all works, long as it’s sweet.

Now, here’s where it gets interestin’. You gotta have spices. This is where everyone’s got their own little secret blend. Some folks like to use garlic powder, onion powder, and you know, I think they are from real garlic and onion. Some like paprika, chili powder. Some even throw in a little cumin or cayenne pepper for a bit of heat. Me? I like to keep it simple. A little salt, a little black pepper, maybe a pinch of this and a dash of that. Just gotta taste as you go, you know?

And I almost forgot, for some sauce, it’s liquid smoke. You know, I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s made from smoke, but it tastes good with the sauce. And also, Worcestershire sauce, some people like to put a little this into the sauce. I heard from my neighbor that it is also made from vinegar, but I am not sure, you know, maybe I will try next time.

Oh, and you gotta have a little somethin’ somethin’ to make it all stick together, you know? Some folks use mustard. And I heard that there are four kinds of sauce, and one is made from mustard. The yellow kind, you know. It adds a little flavor and helps to thicken the sauce up a bit. But me, sometimes I just simmer it on the stove for a good long while until it gets nice and thick all on its own.

Some folks like to add a little mayonnaise. Now, I know what you’re thinkin’. Mayonnaise in barbecue sauce? But trust me, it works. It makes the sauce creamy and smooth, and you know, that’s another kind of sauce, mayonnaise-based sauce. And it’s another one of the four main types of BBQ sauce.

And here’s another thing I heard from someone, some people like to put bacon in the sauce. You know, bacon makes everything better, so why not put it in the sauce? And you know what else? Lettuce! They put lettuce in the sauce too. I don’t understand but maybe it’s good. And they put onion and tomato, just like making a big burger, and they call it double burgers.

So, there you have it. That’s what’s in Scott’s barbecue sauce ingredients. It’s a little bit of this, a little bit of that, and a whole lot of love. And the best part is, you can make it your own. Add a little more of this, a little less of that. Just taste as you go, and before you know it, you’ll have a barbecue sauce that’s so good, it’ll make you wanna slap your grandma. But don’t actually do that, honey. Grandmas are precious, you know.

Now, I know what you’re thinkin’. You’re thinkin’, “How do I make this magical sauce?” Well, honey, it ain’t rocket science. You just gotta throw all those ingredients in a pot and let ’em simmer on the stove for a while. How long? Well, that depends on how thick you like your sauce. I like mine good and thick, so I let it simmer for a good long time. Just keep an eye on it, stir it every now and then, and before you know it, you’ll have a pot of the best darn barbecue sauce you ever tasted.

Here’s a little list, just to recap, you know:

  • Vinegar (Apple cider or whatever’s on hand)
  • Tomato (Paste or fresh, whatever you like)
  • Sugar (Brown, white, molasses, corn syrup, honey, you name it)
  • Spices (Salt, pepper, garlic, onion, paprika, whatever your heart desires)
  • Liquid Smoke (If you like that smoky flavor)
  • Worcestershire Sauce (Just a dash)
  • Mustard (The yellow kind)
  • Mayonnaise (If you’re feeling fancy)
  • Maybe bacon, lettuce, onion, tomato

And don’t forget, the most important ingredient is love. You gotta put a little love into everything you cook, especially your barbecue sauce. So go on, give it a try. And let me know how it turns out, honey. I’m always here if you need any more kitchen wisdom. You know where to find me, right here in my little kitchen, cookin’ up somethin’ good, I think I am gonna make some Scott’s barbecue sauce right now. See ya!
