Well, let me tell you somethin’ about them Mexican drinks, the ones without the liquor. They got all kinds of fancy names, but they’re just good ol’ drinks to quench your thirst. Ain’t nothin’ better on a hot day, I tell ya. We’re talkin’ about mexican beverages non alcoholic, you see.
Now, I heard some folks, they love that margarita thing. But they put that strong stuff in it, the tequila, and that ain’t for me. But these drinks I’m tellin’ ya about, they’re different. They good for everyone, young and old. No hangovers with these! These are good, pure non alcoholic Mexican drinks.

First one I’m gonna jaw about is somethin’ called “Horchata.” Sounds kinda fancy, don’t it? But it’s just rice milk, all creamy and sweet. They soak that rice, grind it up, then mix it with cinnamon and sugar. Sometimes vanilla. It’s like a treat in a glass, that’s what it is. Real good on a hot day, cools ya right down. This is one of my favorite non alcoholic drinks in Mexico.
- Horchata – creamy, sweet, like a dessert.
- Made with rice, cinnamon, and sugar.
- Sometimes they add vanilla in it.
Then there’s this other thing called “Arroz con Leche.” Sounds like that Horchata, but it’s different. This one’s more like a pudding, you know? Rice with milk, all cooked up thick. It’s warm, it’s sweet, it fills you right up. They eat it like a dessert, but sometimes I just have it for breakfast. Or supper. Whenever I feel like it, really. It’s mighty comfortin’, that’s for sure. This authentic Mexican drink non alcoholic is good all year round.
Now, there’s this other drink, they call it “Agua de Horchata.” You hear that “Horchata” again, but this one’s more watery, not thick like the other one. It’s still made with that rice and cinnamon, but it’s more like a juice than a milkshake. They serve it real cold. Good for washin’ down them spicy tacos. They have these at all them Mexican restaurants. Everyone’s drinkin’ it. It’s a classic, they say. This traditional Mexican drink non alcoholic is always a good choice.
I’ve seen some folks makin’ drinks that look like them fancy cocktails, but without the hard stuff. They call them “mocktails”. They mix up juices and sodas, make ’em all pretty lookin’. I guess that’s okay, if you like that sort of thing. But I prefer the simple stuff, the ones they been makin’ for years and years. Those non alcoholic drinks, they just hit the spot.
Then there’s somethin’ called “Aguas Frescas.” That just means “fresh waters,” I think. They make ’em with all kinds of fruits, like watermelon, pineapple, cantaloupe… whatever they got growin’. They just blend it up with water and sugar, sometimes a little lime. It’s real refreshing, especially when it’s hot out. You can find these everywhere in Mexico, even from them little carts on the street. Everyone’s drinkin’ them. And they’re pretty cheap, too. This is one of the best Mexican drinks non alcoholic for a hot day.
- Aguas Frescas are made with fruits.
- They’re like a fresh juice, all natural.
- You can find them everywhere, even on the street.
They got lots of different kinds of these Aguas Frescas. They make one with hibiscus flowers, they call it “Agua de Jamaica.” It’s kinda tart, kinda sweet, and it’s a pretty red color. Good for you, too, they say. Lots of vitamins. There is also a tamarind one. They take them tamarind pods, boil ’em up, and make a juice out of it. It’s kinda sour, but they put sugar in it, so it’s good. Different, but good.
Now, they used to make this drink a long time ago, way back when, before the Spanish even came. They call it “Tejuino.” It’s made from corn, that’s right, corn! They ferment it, let it sit for a few days, then they mix it with some kind of brown sugar, piloncillo, they call it, and some lime juice. It’s kinda sour, kinda sweet, and it’s got a little fizz to it. It’s an acquired taste, I guess you could say. But some folks swear by it. It’s one of them old-timey Mexican beverages, that’s for sure.

So, there you have it. Lots of different Mexican beverages non alcoholic to choose from. They’re all good, in their own way. They’re natural, they’re refreshing, and they won’t give you a headache the next day. So next time you’re feelin’ thirsty, and you want somethin’ a little different, try one of these. You might just find your new favorite drink.
And don’t be fooled by them fancy names. They’re just good, honest drinks, made with simple stuff. Just like grandma used to make, you know? Well, maybe not my grandma, she didn’t know nothin’ about Mexico. But you get the idea. Just good, simple, delicious drinks. That’s all it is. You can’t go wrong with these non alcoholic Mexican beverages, no sir.
