Okay, so I gotta share what I’ve been up to lately. It all started a few months back. I was just scrolling, you know, killing time, and kept seeing these cool little mobile businesses popping up. Coffee carts, smoothie trucks, stuff like that. And I thought, man, that looks way more fun than my regular grind.
So, the idea kinda stuck in my head: a beverage truck. Nothing too fancy, maybe coffee, maybe some juices. Sounded simple enough, right? Famous last words. First thing I did was hit the internet, searching for a “beverage truck for sale”.

Diving into the Search
Wow, talk about a rabbit hole. You see everything out there. Some trucks are all decked out, super professional looking, but man, the prices! We’re talking serious cash, more than I was willing to spend just starting out. Then you got the other end – older trucks, basically just shells, sometimes pretty rough looking. I spent probably weeks just looking at listings online, trying to figure out what I actually needed.
I even went to see a couple of used ones I found listed locally. One was this old step van. Looked kinda cool from a distance, but up close? The engine sounded rough, and the inside needed a ton of work. Like, gutting it completely. The seller was nice enough, but we just couldn’t agree on a price that made sense for the amount of work needed.
Another one was basically a trailer setup. Smaller, easier to manage maybe? But it felt kinda flimsy. I started thinking about:
- Budget: How much could I realistically spend upfront?
- Condition: How much work was I willing (and able) to do myself?
- Size: What did I actually need to hold equipment and supplies?
- Regulations: Didn’t even think about this at first, but yeah, health codes and stuff.
Changing Tactics
After seeing a few duds and getting sticker shock from the fancy ones, I shifted my thinking. Maybe I didn’t need a fully built beverage truck right away. What if I just found a solid base vehicle? Like a good used van or a small box truck?
So, I started looking for used cargo vans instead. Found this one van, wasn’t too old, decent mileage, seemed mechanically sound. It was just a plain white van, totally empty inside. Perfect blank canvas, you know? I spent a lot of time just sitting in it, imagining where things could go. Where would the counter be? Where could I put a small fridge or coolers?
I haven’t bought anything yet. Still weighing the options. Finding the van felt like a step forward, though. It made the whole idea feel more real, more doable. It wasn’t just some picture online anymore; it was something I could actually imagine working on, building out piece by piece.
It’s a process, for sure. More involved than I first thought. But honestly? It’s kinda exciting. Figuring things out, planning, the idea of actually building something myself. We’ll see where it goes, but yeah, that’s been my journey into the world of finding a beverage truck.
