Okay, so I was stumped by a crossword clue today: “brewed beverage.” I’m usually pretty good at these, but this one had me scratching my head. My brain immediately jumped to coffee, but the number of letters didn’t fit.
So, I started with the basics. I have papers all over my table. I thought, “Okay, what do we brew?”
- Coffee? Nope.
- Tea? Maybe…
I grabbed a dictionary, just in case. You know, sometimes those crossword creators use some obscure words. But flipping through the “B” section didn’t immediately give me any “aha!” moments.
Next, I tried a different approach. I started listing out every beverage I could think of, brewed or not. Lemonade, juice, soda…nothing was clicking.
Then, I went back to “tea.” It’s definitely brewed, and it’s a super common crossword answer. I counted out the letters in the space I had…still no! Disappointing.
Thinking outside the box
I decided to google “types of brewed beverages.”I looked at many beverages. I found that, sometimes, the answer isn’t a specific type of drink, but a more general category. So, instead of “coffee” or “tea,” could it be something like “drink” or “beverage” itself? I checked the letter count again. Bingo! Six letters, my answer is “potion”.
I filled it in, and it works! It connected perfectly with all the crossing words. Man, crosswords can be tricky, but that feeling when you finally crack a clue is the best!
