Well, I tell ya, there’s this lady, Wendy Heilmann, who works over at Pebble Beach, ya know, real fancy place by the ocean. She’s the Director of Wine and Spirits there. Now, don’t ask me how she got such a fancy job, but I hear she knows a thing or two about wine, spirits, and all that stuff. I reckon she’s the one who decides what drinks get served to all them rich folks that come around lookin’ for a good time.

Wendy, she’s been workin’ at Pebble Beach for quite a while, from what I gather. Been in the wine and spirits business a good number of years. Some folks call her the big boss of drinks over there, and I ain’t surprised none. She used to be a Regional Sales Manager before she took on this Director role, so she knows what she’s doin’, I guess. You don’t get to run the drink program at one of the best places in California without knowin’ your stuff, right?
Now, you might be wonderin’ what she does exactly in her job. Well, it sounds like she oversees all the wine and booze they serve to the guests. I reckon she makes sure the wine list is top-notch, and there’s a good selection of spirits for all sorts of tastes. From what I hear, Pebble Beach is a real posh place, and they don’t just serve any ol’ thing. No, ma’am. Everything’s gotta be the best.
Wendy’s role ain’t just about pickin’ out wine though. She’s also a big part of the experience, the whole atmosphere of it all. She works with the chefs and other folks there to make sure everything matches up right – the food, the drinks, all of it. I reckon it’s a lot of work, but if you’re gonna run a place like Pebble Beach, you better be ready to put in the time.
She’s worked at a few other spots too, before she landed at Pebble Beach. I hear she used to be the Beverage Director at a place called Casanova and La Bicyclette in Carmel. That was before she moved on up to the big leagues. I bet those places were nice, but Pebble Beach? Well, that’s somethin’ special.
Now, what’s real interestin’ is that Wendy’s not just about the fancy wine and cocktails. Nope, she’s also a big believer in good, honest hard work. You know, makin’ sure the customers have a good time and enjoy what they’re drinkin’. She even got herself some real fancy training – I hear she’s an Advanced Level Sommelier, whatever that means, but sounds like it’s real official.

And don’t think she’s all about the rich folks either. She says she’s really excited about some custom projects she’s workin’ on, which tells me she’s still got her feet on the ground. It’s clear she’s not just sittin’ back and lettin’ things happen. She’s part of the action, makin’ sure everything runs smooth as silk.
If you ever get the chance to head down to Pebble Beach, you might just cross paths with Wendy. She’s the one makin’ sure that your drink is exactly what you want – whether it’s a fancy wine or somethin’ a little stronger. And if you ask her, she might even tell you a story or two about the wines she loves.
So, there ya have it, folks. Wendy Heilmann, Director of Wine and Spirits at Pebble Beach. Seems like she’s done real well for herself. I don’t know about you, but I sure wouldn’t mind a nice glass of wine at Pebble Beach if I ever get the chance. Who knows, maybe I’ll run into Wendy herself!
