Okay, so I’ve been on this huge pizza kick lately. Like, I’m pretty sure I’ve had pizza at least three times a week. But you can’t just have pizza, right? You gotta have something sweet afterward. So, I decided to figure out the perfect desserts to go with pizza. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it!
My Dessert Experiment
I started with some classic options, you know, the usual suspects.

- Ice Cream: I grabbed some vanilla bean ice cream. Can’t go wrong with that, it is simple and my kids like it.
- Cookies: I baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies. A bit warm, a bit gooey…seemed like a good match.
- Brownies: Store-bought, because, let’s be honest, I’d already made cookies. I just bought some fudge brownies.
- Cannoli: Went a little fancy! Got a few from the local Italian bakery. My wife likes it.
The Pizza Pairing Process
First, the pizza arrived. Just a basic pepperoni, got some cookie and some icecream. I had a slice (or three), and then went straight for the vanilla ice cream. The cold, creamy ice cream after the warm, salty pizza? It was refreshing, I would say.
Next, I had one warm chocolate chip cookie. The soft, melty chocolate was pretty good, a great experience.
Then I go for the Brownies. Okay, so the brownies were a bit…much. After a heavy pizza, a heavy brownie was a bit overwhelming. I almost can’t finish one, even I share with my wife.
Finally, the cannoli. The crispy shell and the sweet ricotta filling? That was a surprise win! It was surprisingly good, especially the light, citrusy notes in the filling. It cut through the richness of the pizza really well.
The Delicious Results
So, here’s what I found out, after, a lot of “research”.
- Ice Cream: Classic and safe.
- Chocolate Chip Cookies: Really good match, especially when warm.
- Brownies: Maybe a bit too much after pizza.
- Cannoli: A surprise hit. Really good.
For me? I’m going with either the ice cream or the cannoli next time. Cookies are always a good backup plan. The brownies? Maybe on a non-pizza night. Now I share my record with you guys!
