So, the other day, I decided to hit up Popeyes. You know, gotta get my fried chicken fix. But this time, I paid extra attention to their drinks. Honestly, I usually just grab whatever, but I figured, “Why not make a thing of it?”
First, I scoped out the menu. They’ve got your standard stuff: Pepsi, Pepsi Max, that orange Mirinda stuff, 7Up, and Lipton Iced Tea. They also had some bottled water there. Nothing too crazy, but a decent selection to wash down that crispy, greasy goodness. And you can refill as much as you want, which is always a win in my book.

They have some green tea too, the menu said it’s “Light and refreshing, full of antioxidants”. I didn’t try that one, I was feeling a soda.
Here’s what I did:
- Walked in: The place was bustling, as usual. Smelled like fried heaven.
- Stared at the menu: They have the drinks listed right there with the combos. Easy peasy.
- Ordered my food: Got my usual chicken, some of those killer mashed potatoes and gravy. Seriously, that gravy is what makes the mashed potatoes so good. Without it, they’re just boring. And of course, I grabbed a large Pepsi.
- Filled ‘er up: They have one of those fancy soda fountains where you can mix and match flavors. I just went with straight-up Pepsi.
- Enjoyed my meal: Chicken, mashed potatoes, and an ice-cold drink. Life is good.
- Refilled my cup: It said on the menu, refill with no limits, so of course I did.
It wasn’t a wild adventure, but I gotta say, having a good drink really completes the Popeyes experience. They got the Southern-style food and the drinks to match. You really experience comfort food at its best. It’s no wonder Popeyes is the number one chicken chain in the US. They’ve been doing this since 1972, so they’ve obviously figured something out.
Next time you’re at Popeyes, take a sec to think about your drink. Don’t just grab the first thing you see. Pick something that’ll really make those taste buds sing. You might be surprised.
