Alright, let’s talk about this pumpkin dump cake. My neighbor, bless her heart, she told me about it. Said it’s easy as pie, only three things you need. Three! Can you believe it? I thought, “Well, shoot, even I can’t mess that up!” And you know what? She was right. It’s so simple, even a blind hen could find a kernel of corn with this recipe.

So, first thing’s first, you gotta get yourself a box of cake mix. Now, don’t go gettin’ all fancy. Just a regular ol’ spice cake mix will do. You know, the kind you find on sale at the store. Them fancy ones, they cost a fortune and taste the same, if you ask me. I grabbed the cheapest one I could find. Probably cost me a whole two dollars, maybe less. Gotta watch them pennies, you know?

Quick & Simple: 3 Ingredient Pumpkin Dump Cake Recipe

Next up, you need a can of pumpkin. Not the pie filling, mind you, just the plain ol’ pumpkin puree. Make sure it ain’t got no sugar or spices added. We’ll take care of that ourselves. I always get the big can, ’cause you never know when you might need some extra pumpkin. Maybe for pumpkin bread, or maybe just to eat with a spoon. Don’t judge, it’s good for ya! At least, that’s what they say on the TV.

And the last thing, you need some melted butter. Now, I ain’t gonna lie, I use real butter. None of that margarine stuff. Real butter just tastes better, plain and simple. But if you’re watchin’ your waistline, I guess you could use the other stuff. Won’t taste as good, though. You melt that butter, just stick it in the microwave for a bit, or melt it on the stove, whatever’s easiest. No need to get all fancy, remember? We’re keepin’ it simple here.

Here’s how you make it, it’s real easy, I promise:

  • First, you dump that whole can of pumpkin into a baking dish. I use a 9×13, but anything close will work. Just make sure it’s greased up good. Don’t want that cake stickin’, now do we?
  • Then, you sprinkle that cake mix right on top of the pumpkin. Just spread it out evenly. Don’t mix it in or nothin’. Just sprinkle it. That’s why they call it a dump cake, I reckon, ‘cause you just dump everything in.
  • Last, you pour that melted butter all over the top. Make sure it covers all the cake mix. Every little bit. That butter is what makes it all moist and delicious. Don’t skimp on the butter, I’m tellin’ ya.

And that’s it! You stick it in the oven at 350 degrees for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until it’s golden brown and bubbly. You’ll know it’s done when you poke it with a fork and it comes out clean. Or, you know, just when it looks good and done. I ain’t never used a timer in my life. I just go by feel. And smell. When it smells good, it’s probably done.

Let it cool for a bit before you dig in. It’s mighty hot, and you don’t wanna burn your tongue. I like to serve it with a dollop of whipped cream, but it’s good all by itself too. It’s sweet, and spicy, and pumpkin-y. Just perfect for a fall evening. Or any evening, really. Heck, I’d eat this for breakfast if nobody was lookin’.

And the best part? Clean-up is a breeze. Just one dish! I hate washing dishes, so that’s a big plus in my book. This 3 ingredient pumpkin dump cake is so easy to make, and it’s so darn good. Seriously, you gotta try it. Even if you’re not much of a baker, you can make this. I guarantee it. And if you mess it up, well, then you probably shouldn’t be in the kitchen in the first place!

So go on, get yourself to the store and grab those three ingredients. You won’t regret it. And when you’re sittin’ there enjoyin’ your delicious pumpkin dump cake, you can thank that nice neighbor of mine. And maybe me too, for sharin’ the recipe. Just don’t tell anyone I told you it was this easy. They might think I’m losin’ my marbles!

Quick & Simple: 3 Ingredient Pumpkin Dump Cake Recipe

This easy pumpkin dump cake is a fall favorite in my house. Now that I showed you how to do it, you go on and try it and make it one in yours too.

I almost forgot, some people like to add nuts on top, or even chocolate chips. But me, I like it just the way it is. Simple and delicious. That’s the way I like things.

So there you have it. The easiest pumpkin dump cake recipe you’ll ever find. Now go on and bake somethin’!
