Okay, so the other day I was feeling a little… blah. You know, one of those evenings where you want a drink, but you also don’t want to, like, make a drink? I’m talking zero effort. And my liquor cabinet? It’s basically tequila and a few sad-looking limes most of the time.
So I thought, “Self, there’s gotta be something super simple I can whip up.” I grabbed my phone and did some quick searching. Turns out, there are actually a few surprisingly decent tequila drinks you can make with just TWO ingredients. No fancy syrups, no muddling, just…pour and go.

My Two-Ingredient Tequila Experiment
- First up: Tequila and Soda.
Sounds basic, right? It is. I filled a glass with ice, poured in a shot of tequila (I used a blanco, ’cause that’s what I had), and then topped it off with some plain club soda. Squeezed in a lime wedge for a bit of extra *. it was pretty good! Refreshing, light, and the tequila flavor still came through.
It is a simple drink, and I successfully make it.
- Next: Tequila and Grapefruit Soda.
I found this suggestion online, and I happened to have some grapefruit soda in the fridge. (Don’t judge, it’s good!). Same deal as before: ice, tequila, top with the grapefruit soda. This one was a little sweeter, but in a good way. The grapefruit really complements the tequila. I can imagine this being perfect on a hot day.
I made this one, too, and it’s super easy and good.
- The verdict?
I’m converted! You really can make a decent, quick tequila drink with hardly any effort. It has certainly improved my drinking * two-ingredient wonders are now officially in my rotation for those lazy evenings. Next time, I might even get a little crazy and try different flavored sodas. The possibilities are (almost) endless!
