Alright, let’s talk about my little adventure trying to whip up some of that Skinnygirl salad dressing. I’m always looking for ways to keep things light and tasty, you know? So, I figured, why not give it a go?
First off, I had to gather my ingredients. I knew it wasn’t going to be anything too crazy. From what I read, these dressings are all about keeping it low-cal. Some info I found said that the Italian one has only 10 calories for 2 tablespoons, and most of the others aren’t far off. Sounds good, right?

So, I started with the Italian one. I grabbed some apple cider vinegar – that seemed to be a key player. Then I added in some minced garlic, onion, and some chopped red bell peppers. I figured these would give it that zesty, fresh flavor. I also tossed in a little bit of salt and pepper, ’cause you gotta have some basic seasoning, am I right?
After that, it was just a matter of whisking everything together. I wanted to make sure it was all nicely combined, you know, so every bite would have that perfect balance of flavors. I gave it a taste and, honestly, it wasn’t half bad! It definitely needed a little something more. Maybe a pinch of sweetener, or some herbs. But overall, not a bad start.
- Apple cider vinegar: This was my base.
- Garlic and onion: Minced these up real fine.
- Red bell peppers: Chopped these up for some color and crunch.
- Salt and pepper: Just a dash of each.
My Thoughts
Next up, I might try making their Raspberry Vinaigrette. Apparently, that one’s even lower in calories – only 5 for 2 tablespoons! I’m thinking some raspberries, a bit of vinegar, maybe a touch of honey? We’ll see how that goes. This whole DIY salad dressing thing is kind of fun, actually. Plus, you know exactly what’s going into it, which is always a bonus in my book.
And then there’s the Poppyseed one. I love poppy seeds, so I’m definitely looking forward to trying that one out. I’m guessing it’ll be a bit sweeter, maybe with some citrus notes?
Anyway, that’s my Skinnygirl salad dressing experiment so far. It’s a work in progress, but hey, that’s half the fun, right? I’ll keep you guys posted on how my future attempts turn out. Who knows, maybe I’ll even come up with my own signature low-cal dressing!
