Okay, so I saw these super cute inflatable drink holders online, and I thought, “I need those for my pool!” But, of course, I wanted to try making them myself first. You know, save a little money and have some fun.
The Hunt for Materials
First things first, I needed some materials. I raided my craft bin and found some leftover foam sheets from a previous project. Score! Then, I grabbed:

- Scissors
- A marker
- Some colorful duct tape (because, why not?)
- A plastic cup (to use as a template)
Getting Crafty
I started by tracing the bottom of the cup onto the foam sheet. Then, I drew a larger circle around that one, making it maybe 2-3 inches wider. This would be the floating part. I carefully cut out both circles, and then cut a hole in the center of the smaller circle, just big enough for the cup to fit snugly.
Next, I took the bigger foam circle and cut a slit from the edge to the center. Then, I overlapped the edges of the slit a bit and taped them together with the duct tape. This created a slight cone shape, which I figured would help it float better.
Assembly Time
Now for the fun part! I flipped the cone-shaped piece upside down and placed the smaller circle (with the hole) on top, centering it as best as I could. More duct tape! I secured the two pieces together, making sure to cover all the edges so no water would seep in. and used colorful duct tape around the edges, add more styles.
The Moment of Truth
I filled a plastic cup with some water, placed in the center of the foam, walked to the pool. I slowly release it.
It floats, mission success!
It’s super cute, and I made it myself! Now I’m ready for some serious poolside relaxation.
