I’ve been experimenting in the kitchen, as many of you know. Today, I want to talk about something a bit different than my usual stuff. I tried my hand at cooking goose breast, specifically using a slow cooker. Yeah, I know, it sounds a bit out there, but trust me, it turned out pretty interesting.

So, I started with this whole idea of making goose breast. I found some recipes online, but they were all over the place. Then I thought, why not try the slow cooker? I mean, it’s great for making tough meat tender, right? And I figured it would be a simple way to cook it without messing it up.

First thing I did was gather all my ingredients. I had these goose breasts, some olive oil, garlic, rosemary, and a few other things I found in my pantry. I wasn’t really following a strict recipe, just kind of throwing things together based on what I had and what sounded good.

I placed the goose breasts in my slow cooker, drizzled some olive oil over them. Then I sprinkled a bunch of minced garlic and some fresh rosemary. I also added a bit of salt and pepper because, you know, gotta have the basics. I saw some people online talking about marinating the goose, but honestly, I didn’t bother with that. I just wanted to see how it would turn out without too much fuss.

  • Preparing the Goose Breasts: I put those goose breasts right into the slow cooker. No browning or anything, just straight in there.
  • Adding Flavors: I poured a bit of olive oil over the goose, then I threw in a generous amount of chopped garlic. I love garlic, so I didn’t hold back. Then, I added some rosemary sprigs. I like the smell of it, and I figured it would work well with the goose.
  • Seasoning: Salt and pepper are a must, so I sprinkled those on too. Nothing fancy, just the usual stuff.

Then, I just turned the slow cooker on low and left it alone. I think I let it cook for about 6 or 7 hours. I saw some recipes saying to cook it for less time, but I wasn’t in a hurry, and I wanted the goose to be really tender. While it was cooking, I did some other stuff around the house. I checked on it a couple of times, but mostly I just let it do its thing.

The Waiting Game

The slow cooker did its magic, and after those hours, I finally opened it up. The smell was amazing – the garlic and rosemary had really infused into the meat. The goose looked super tender, and when I poked it with a fork, it just fell apart. I took the goose breasts out of the slow cooker and let them rest for a few minutes. This is something I learned from cooking other meats – resting helps to keep it juicy.

After letting it rest, I sliced the goose breast. It was so soft and juicy. I served it with some roasted vegetables that I had made earlier. I just roasted some potatoes, carrots, and onions in the oven while the goose was cooking. Simple, but it worked really well with the goose.

The taste? Honestly, it was pretty darn good. The goose was flavorful, tender, and not dry at all. The garlic and rosemary really came through, and the slow cooking made the meat just melt in your mouth. It was a bit of a different taste from what I’m used to, but in a good way. It felt like a fancy meal, but it was actually super easy to make.

So, that’s my slow cooker goose breast adventure. It’s a great way to cook goose if you’re looking for something easy and delicious. I might try different spices and herbs next time, maybe even a sauce. But for a first try, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. If you’ve got a slow cooker and some goose breast, give it a shot. You might be surprised at how good it is!
