Okay, so I’ve been trying to eat healthier lately, and that includes paying more attention to the ingredients in, well, everything! I’ve always used Bertolli olive oil, it’s just what my mom used, so I never really questioned it. But today, I decided to actually look at the label. Here’s how it went down:
The Investigation Begins
First, I grabbed the bottle from my pantry. It’s the classic Bertolli Extra Virgin Olive Oil, the one with the green label. I always thought, “Extra Virgin? Must be good, right?” But I wanted to see what that really meant.

Reading the Fine Print
I turned the bottle around, squinting at the tiny text. I always do this it’s so annoying that need put this in the tiny text. Seriously who can read it directly!
It says,I put it down here:
- “Extra Virgin Olive Oil” – Okay, that’s a start.
I needed to know more than just “Extra Virgin Olive Oil,” though, then I found something online:
It says that Bertolli Extra Virgin Olive Oil is crafted from the first cold pressing of the olives, this retains the oil’s full flavor and aroma. Also, the oil is tested for its acidity level, and it does not contain any additives or refined oils.
Putting It All Together
So, after all this, what did I actually learn? Basically, Bertolli olive oil’s extra virgin olive oil really seems to be just that: olive oil. No weird chemicals or fillers, just olives.I feel good that I am really caring about what I and my family ate. I’m feeling pretty good about sticking with Bertolli for now. It seems like a decent, straightforward option.
