Well, let me tell you, I’ve been cookin’ for a good long while, and this here tipsy shrimp, it’s a real crowd-pleaser. You just gotta know a few tricks, and these shrimps will be so tasty, everyone will be askin’ for more. That’s all you want when you cook, ain’t it? People enjoyin’ your food.

First thing, you gotta get yourself some good shrimps. Not them tiny little things, but some good-sized ones. Big enough you can get a good bite. And fresh, gotta be fresh. If they smell funny, don’t even bother. Toss ’em out. You know I like fresh food. Always use fresh food when you cook, that’s important.

Now, you gonna need some booze for these tipsy shrimps. I use that strong white liquor. That Bai…Baijiu, yeah, that’s the one. Strong stuff, makes them shrimps real tipsy! You can find it at them fancy liquor stores, I reckon. If you can’t find that, somethin’ else strong will do, I suppose. But that Baijiu, that’s the real deal. You can choose what you like, just make sure it’s strong. So this dish can be called “Drunken Shrimp” too.

So, you get your shrimps, you clean ’em up good. Take off them shells and that little black line down their backs. Nobody wants to eat that. Then you rinse ’em off real good under cold water. Make sure they’re all nice and clean. Cleanliness is next to godliness, you know.

  • Get some good shrimps
  • Get some strong booze, Baijiu is the best
  • Clean shrimps, take off shells and that black line

Now comes the fun part. You put them shrimps in a bowl, and you pour that Baijiu all over ’em. Don’t be shy with it, now. You want ’em good and soaked. Let ’em swim around in that liquor for a bit. They’ll get all happy and, well, tipsy! Just don’t let them swim too long, and don’t let them swim too short. About twenty minutes.

While they’re gettin’ tipsy, you can get your other stuff ready. You gonna need some garlic. Lots of garlic. I love garlic. Chop it up real fine. And some ginger, too. Just a little bit, though. Ginger’s strong, you don’t want it overpowerin’ everything. Chop that up fine, too. This shrimp recipe is easy, right?

Then you gotta get some other seasonings. Salt, pepper, the usual. Maybe a little bit of sugar, just a pinch. And some of that red pepper, if you like it spicy. I like a little kick, myself. But you can leave that out if you don’t like it. Just make it how you like it, that’s the important thing.

So, after them shrimps have had their little bath in the Baijiu, you take ’em out. Don’t throw away that liquor, now! We gonna use that later. Just set it aside for a minute. Now get ready to cook the tipsy shrimp. It is an easy recipe, just follow me.

You get a big pan, a wok if you got one, and you put it on the stove. Turn the heat up high. You want it good and hot. Then you put some oil in there. Peanut oil is good, if you got it. But any kind will do. If you don’t have a wok, just use a big pan.

When the oil is hot, you throw in that garlic and ginger. Stir it around real fast, so it doesn’t burn. You just want it to get fragrant. That’s when you know it’s ready. You just need to stir it for a few seconds. That’s enough.

  • Chop garlic and ginger
  • Salt, pepper, sugar, red pepper if you like
  • Heat up a pan with some oil
  • Fry garlic and ginger until fragrant

Then you throw in them shrimps. They gonna sizzle and pop. That’s good. That means the pan is hot enough. Stir ’em around, make sure they all get cooked. They cook real fast, so you gotta keep an eye on ’em. Just a few minutes on each side. Don’t overcook ’em, or they’ll get tough. Nobody wants tough shrimps. This is an important step for this tipsy shrimp recipe.

When they’re just about done, you pour that Baijiu back in there. The liquor you used to soak ’em in, remember? That’s gonna give it a real good flavor. Let it cook for a minute or two, until the sauce thickens up a little. This is a easy shrimp recipe, and also delicious!

And that’s it! You’re done. You got yourself some tipsy shrimps. Serve ’em up with some rice, or some noodles, or whatever you like. They’re good with anything. Just make sure you got enough for everybody, ’cause they gonna want seconds. And thirds. And maybe even fourths! I bet you gonna like this easy tipsy shrimp.

This dish, you can make it for a special occasion, or just for a regular old Tuesday night. It’s always good. And it’s easy, too. Even if you’re not a fancy cook, you can make this. Just follow my instructions, and you’ll be fine. And if I can make it, you can make it. Trust me, everyone can do this easy recipe.
