Okay, so I’ve been wanting to make my own spice blends for a while now, and I finally decided to give it a shot. I saw this “Tony Seasoning” thing all over the internet, and it sounded pretty good. Figured I’d try to make my own version, you know, a little DIY project in the kitchen.
First, I gathered all the stuff I thought I’d need. I looked at a few different recipes online, and they all seemed to have similar ingredients. I grabbed my little notebook and started jotting down what I was going to use:

- Salt – I had some fine sea salt, so I used that. About 1/4 cup.
- Cornstarch – Just a little bit, like 1 teaspoon. I guess it helps keep things from clumping.
- Cayenne pepper – This is where the heat comes in! I added around 5 teaspoons.
- Garlic salt – 5 teaspoons of this too. Love me some garlic.
- Black pepper – 4 teaspoons, ground up nice and fine.
- Chili powder – The seasoned kind, about 1 tablespoon.
- Celery salt – 2 1/2 teaspoons of this stuff.
- Mustard powder – 2 teaspoons, gives it a little tang.
- Basil – Dried basil, 1 1/2 teaspoons.
Then came the fun part – mixing it all together! I dumped everything into a small container I had lying around. It had a lid that sealed tight, which is perfect for storing spices. I gave it a good shake, making sure everything was combined really well.
I tried a little pinch of it, and it was pretty darn close to what I was expecting! It has that nice salty, savory, and spicy kick. Maybe next time I’ll tweak it a bit, add more or less of something, who knows. But for a first attempt, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s definitely going to be my go-to seasoning for a while. I sprinkled some on some chicken, and man, it was good! This homemade seasoning stuff is a game changer, I’m telling ya.
I will have a good time with my new seasoning.
