Alright, so, today I’m gonna share my kitchen adventure with you guys. I tried out some “chicken with orange marmalade” thing I saw online, and lemme tell ya, it was a ride.

First things first, I grabbed all the stuff. You know, chicken breasts, some orange marmalade (the store-bought kind, ain’t got time to make it from scratch), soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and a little bit of olive oil. Looked simple enough.

Then I chopped up the garlic and ginger. Minced ’em real fine, because nobody wants big chunks of garlic in their chicken, right? After that, I slapped the chicken breasts between some plastic wrap and pounded them thin. Makes them cook faster, and also, it’s kinda therapeutic.

Next up was the sauce. I mixed the marmalade with the soy sauce, garlic, and ginger in a bowl. Gave it a good whisk until it was all combined and smelled kinda orangey and gingery. Not gonna lie, I took a little taste. Seemed promising.

Alright, cooking time. I heated up the olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Then I put the chicken breasts in and let them cook for a few minutes on each side, until they started to get golden brown. Nothing fancy here.

After the chicken was browned, I poured that marmalade sauce all over it. I made sure every piece was coated. Then I turned the heat down low, covered the pan, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes. Needed to give that sauce time to thicken up and soak into the chicken.

While it was simmering, I made some rice on the side. Figured it’d be a good complement to the chicken. Also, I was hungry.

After what felt like forever, I lifted the lid off the pan. The sauce had thickened up nicely and the chicken looked glazed and delicious. I poked it with a fork to make sure it was cooked through. Looked good to go!

Finally, time to eat. I spooned some rice onto a plate, put a chicken breast on top, and drizzled some of the sauce over it. Took a bite… and wow. It was actually pretty good! The chicken was tender, and the sauce was sweet and savory with a little bit of a zing from the ginger. Definitely a win!

Cleanup time. That pan was a sticky mess. But hey, worth it for a good meal.

My Verdict

  • Easy to make? Yep, super easy.
  • Delicious? Surprisingly so!
  • Would I make it again? Absolutely.

So yeah, that’s my “chicken with orange marmalade” adventure. If you’re looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal, give it a try! You might be surprised how good it is.
