Okay, so I’ve been messing around with some recipes lately, and I stumbled upon this thing with grilled olives. Grilled olives! Who knew, right? I mean, I love olives, but grilling them? That’s a whole new ball game. Let me tell you how I got into this and what I did.
First off, I went and grabbed some green olives. I figured green ones would be good because they’re kinda firm, you know? Then I thought, “These need some flavor.” So, I whipped up a quick marinade. I just threw in some olive oil, a bunch of herbs I had lying around – and some spices. Nothing fancy, just stuff from the pantry.

I let the olives sit in that marinade for a bit. I think it was, like, an hour? Maybe more, I was watching a movie. I heated up the grill, you know, not too hot. Just enough to get those grill marks without burning the little guys to a crisp. I tossed the olives on there and kept an eye on them, turning them every now and then. They were on there for like 8-10 minutes. Just enough to get a little char, you know?
The Tasting
- I took them off the grill and let them cool for a sec. I mean, who wants to burn their tongue, right?
- Then I tried one. Holy smokes, they were different!
- They had this smoky flavor that you don’t usually get from olives.
- And the marinade? Oh boy, it just made everything pop.
I served them up as a little snack, and man, they were a hit! You can have them warm or cold, doesn’t really matter. They’re good both ways. I was thinking, these would be awesome with some cheese or maybe even in a salad. Or hey, just by themselves! I sprinkled a bit of salt and pepper on top for that extra kick. They’re good to eat as appetizers, too.
Honestly, grilling olives might sound a bit weird, but trust me, it’s worth a shot. It’s super easy, and it really changes the whole olive game. I’m definitely gonna be doing this again. Maybe next time I’ll try some different spices or something. Who knows! Anyway, that’s my little kitchen adventure for today. Hope you guys give it a try sometime! It’s a European thing, I think.
