Okay, so today I wanted to mess around and make that drink, you know, the “Blue Motorcycle.” I’d seen it around, and it looked kinda cool with that crazy blue color. Figured it’d be a fun little project. Turns out, getting that color was a bit more involved than I thought.
Getting Started
First, I needed to figure out what actually goes into this thing. A quick search online, and bam, a whole bunch of recipes popped up. Some were different, but most had the same basic stuff. I grabbed a pen and paper and jotted down the common ingredients I saw.

Gathering the Goods
Next up, I raided my own liquor cabinet to see what I already had. A few things were there, but I was definitely missing some key players. So, off to the store I went. I wandered around the aisles, list in hand, grabbing what I needed. Felt like a bit of a scavenger hunt, honestly.
- Vodka – Check, already had that.
- Rum – Nope, needed to buy a bottle.
- Tequila – Got some of that too.
- Gin – Whoa, didn’t have any. Into the cart it went.
- Blue curaçao – This was the tricky one. Found it eventually!
- Sweet and sour mix – Easy peasy.
- Lemon-lime soda – Got a two-liter, just in case.
Mixing it Up
Back home, I laid out all the ingredients on the counter. Felt like a mad scientist or something. I followed one of the recipes I found, carefully measuring each liquor and pouring it into a shaker with ice. Gave it a good, hard shake, and then strained it into a tall glass.
Then came the soda, just a splash to top it off. And there it was, a “Blue Motorcycle.” It definitely had that vibrant blue color, thanks to the curaçao.
The Taste Test
I took a sip, and… well, it was strong, haha. Definitely a party drink. It was sweet and sour, with a bit of a citrusy kick from the soda. Not something I’d drink every day, but it was pretty good. I can see why people like it. It is simple to make if you know the ingredients.
Overall, it was a fun little experiment. Maybe next time I’ll try a different recipe, or even try to make up my own version. Who knows, maybe I’ll come up with the next big cocktail craze!
