Okay, so I decided to do this “Christmas in July” thing, you know, just for kicks. I mean, why not bring some of that holiday spirit into the middle of summer? Plus, it was a good excuse to try out some new recipes.
First off, I thought about decorations. I didn’t want to go full-out Christmas, but a little touch here and there seemed fun. I found this idea for a Rosemary Christmas Tree Centerpiece online, and it looked pretty easy. Basically, you just get some rosemary sprigs and shape them into a little tree. I did that, and it actually turned out kind of cute. It made the whole place smell good, too!

Then came the food. I wanted something that felt a bit festive, but still summer-appropriate, you know? I stumbled upon a recipe for Chive Smashed Potatoes, and it seemed like a winner. I just boiled some potatoes, smashed them, and mixed in some butter, chives, and other spices. I didn’t even bother to peel them. The recipe said it makes a lot, which is perfect because I love leftovers.
- Boil potatoes until tender.
- Smash them up good.
- Mix in butter, chives, and some other stuff like salt and pepper.
- That’s it!
Next, I found this thing for Slow-Cooker Citrus Carrots. I figured carrots are kind of Christmassy, right? This was super simple. I just tossed some baby carrots in my slow cooker with some orange juice, a little brown sugar, and some spices. I left it in for a few hours. My mom used to make something like this, but I think she did it on the stove. Anyway, these turned out pretty tasty, and they were easy to prepare a day before.
Lastly, I made some Easy Peasy Biscuits. The recipe called them “a healthier version of a classic American staple,” so I figured, why not? These were pretty straightforward, too. I just mixed up some flour, baking powder, milk, and a few other things, rolled them out, and baked them. And guess what? I have a bunch leftover that I stuck in the freezer for later.
All in all, this “Christmas in July” thing was a fun little experiment. The food was good, the decorations were cute, and it was a nice way to beat the summer heat with a little bit of holiday cheer. And the most important thing is it is really easy to do with these recipes! I might even do it again next year!
