Okay, so today I want to share something a little different—it’s about spicing up my kitchen, not with herbs, but with words. I came across this idea of putting up scriptures in the kitchen and thought, why not? I mean, I spend a good chunk of my time in there, so I figured it could use a little inspirational boost.

I started by browsing around for some verses that’d fit the kitchen vibe. I didn’t want anything too heavy, just something to make me smile while I’m burning toast or washing dishes for the zillionth time. I stumbled upon “Give us today our daily bread” from Matthew 6:11. Seemed fitting, right? It’s all about being thankful for the food on our plates, and it’s a good reminder to ask the Lord to help me not screw up dinner too badly.

Then came the fun part—actually getting these words onto my walls. I’m no artist, so I looked for some printable stuff online. There’s a ton of free printables out there. But I wanted to make it a bit more personal. I remembered seeing folks write stuff on their walls during renovations. Kinda like leaving a secret message for the future. So I got a marker and found a nice empty spot on the wall behind where the fridge goes.

I wrote out the verse, nice and big. It was a bit wobbly, but hey, that’s part of the charm. I also added a little doodle of a bread loaf, just to make it extra kitchen-y. I decided to make the wall more special, so I also wrote some of the good memories that I had in the kitchen like the first time I cooked with my daughter and the first meal I cooked in this kitchen when I moved in. Every time I pull out the fridge to clean behind it, I’ll see these messages and remember those good times.

I didn’t stop there, though. I had some old wooden signs lying around from my last craft project that totally flopped. I sanded them down, painted them white, and used stencils to write out another verse I found. It went something like, “20 In a well-furnished kitchen there are not only crystal goblets and silver platters, but waste cans and compost buckets – some containers used to serve fine meals.” Corny, I know, but it had this cool, rustic vibe that I thought would match my kitchen’s whole deal.

After that, I spent an afternoon hanging everything up. It was a bit of a mess, with nails and paint everywhere, but totally worth it. Now, when I walk into my kitchen, it feels different. It’s not just a place to cook; it feels more like a part of my home, you know? Plus, it’s a great conversation starter when people come over. They always ask about the verses and the stories behind them.

The Results

  • More Gratitude: Seeing those words every day has made me more mindful and thankful, not just for the food, but for everything.
  • Better Cooking: Okay, maybe not better, but I’m definitely more inspired to try new recipes.
  • Cozy Vibes: My kitchen just feels warmer and more inviting now.

So, yeah, that’s my little kitchen scripture adventure. It wasn’t a huge project, but it made a big difference for me. If you’re thinking about doing something similar, I say go for it. It’s a simple way to bring a little more positivity and personality into your home.
