What Makes Texas Roadhouse Green Beans So Good? Check Out the Ingredients and Try This Simple Recipe

Alright, so the other day I was craving some of those Texas Roadhouse green beans. You know, the ones that are all savory and just hit the spot? I decided, why not try making them myself? I mean, how hard could it be, right?

First things first, I had to figure out what goes into these things. I grabbed my phone and did a quick search. Turns out, it’s pretty simple. Green beans, of course, but the real question was: fresh, frozen, or canned? The internet told me that Texas Roadhouse actually uses canned beans. That’s surprising, right? But if I wanted that authentic taste, canned it was.

So, I went to the grocery store and picked up a couple of cans of green beans. I also grabbed some bacon, because, well, everything’s better with bacon. Some onions, garlic, chicken broth, and a few spices later, I was back home and ready to cook.

The Cooking Process

  • I started by frying up the bacon in a big pot until it was nice and crispy. I love the smell of bacon cooking, it is just wonderful. Then, I took the bacon out and set it aside, but I left the grease in the pot. That’s where the flavor is!
  • Next, I tossed in some chopped onions and garlic and cooked them in the bacon grease until they were soft. After all, it is easy to get them soft.
  • Then, I poured in the green beans, liquid and all, and added some chicken broth. I’m not a big fan of wasting, and I think it is essential to keep the liquid. I sprinkled in some salt, pepper, and a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little kick.
  • I brought the whole thing to a boil, then turned down the heat and let it simmer for a good while. I wanted those beans to soak up all the flavors. So I have to wait with great patience.
  • Finally, when the beans were tender and the sauce had thickened up a bit, I crumbled the bacon back in. Oh man, it smelled amazing!

I gave it a taste, and you know what? It was pretty darn close to the real deal! It is so great that I did it! It might not have been exactly the same, but it satisfied my craving for sure. Plus, it was way cheaper than going out to eat. And the best part? I get to eat it again, how wonderful it is! I’ll definitely be making these again. Maybe next time I’ll experiment with fresh beans, just to see how they compare. But for now, I’m pretty happy with my canned bean creation.
