Okay, so, about these flying biscuits. I’ve heard a lot about them, especially from this place in Atlanta. They are supposed to be the best, right? So I decided, why not try to make them at home? It’s not like I can just hop on a plane to Atlanta every time I get a craving.
First, I dug up some information online. There are tons of stuff about these biscuits, about how many calories they have, and all that jazz. Honestly, who cares about calories when you’re talking about fluffy, buttery biscuits? But yeah, apparently, one biscuit is around 216 calories. Whatever, moving on.

Then I stumbled upon this cookbook, April Moon’s Flying Biscuit Cafe Cookbook. This is where the magic happens. This book supposedly has the actual recipe they use at the Flying Biscuit Cafe. I got excited, obviously. I grabbed the book and flipped straight to the biscuit section.
I started gathering all the stuff I needed. Flour, butter, you know, the usual suspects for making biscuits. I don’t remember all the specifics ’cause, you know, who actually memorizes a recipe? I just followed what the book said.
- Flour, check.
- Butter, check.
- A bunch of other stuff, check.
The process was pretty straightforward. I mixed the dry ingredients, cut in the cold butter, and then added the wet ingredients. I tried not to overmix it. I heard that’s a big no-no when it comes to biscuits. You want them fluffy, not tough.
After that, I rolled out the dough and cut it into rounds. I think I used a glass or something. Who needs a fancy biscuit cutter, right? Then I put the biscuit rounds on a baking sheet.
The Baking Part
The cookbook said to bake them at a high temperature. That’s apparently the secret to making them rise higher. I cranked up the oven as high as it would go and popped the biscuits in.
While they were baking, I started getting impatient. The smell wafting from the oven was making my stomach growl. I kept peeking in to see if they were done. Finally, after what felt like forever, they were golden brown and ready.
I pulled them out of the oven and let them cool for a bit. They looked pretty good, if I do say so myself. Not exactly like the pictures in the cookbook, but hey, I’m no professional baker. They puffed up pretty well and I’m proud of it.

I slathered one with butter and jam, and took a bite. Oh boy, it was good. Warm, fluffy, and buttery. Just like I imagined. Maybe not exactly like the ones from the Flying Biscuit Cafe, but close enough. Definitely satisfied my craving.
So, yeah, that’s my flying biscuit adventure. It was fun, and I got to eat delicious biscuits at the end. Win-win. If you’re ever craving some good biscuits, give it a try. It’s easier than you might think. And remember, don’t worry too much about the calories. Just enjoy the biscuit!
