Next comes the sugar. Yes, sugar! It might sound funny, but it helps balance out the flavors. Makes it a bit sweeter and not so salty. Then, we add some spices. This is where it gets interesting! They use things like black pepper, nutmeg, and even a little paprika. Just a pinch of this and that to give it a nice kick!

Now, we can’t forget about the curing agents. These are real important to keep the meat safe and sound. We got sodium nitrite and sodium nitrate in there. These help with preserving the pork roll, so it lasts longer and stays fresh.

And there’s more! There’s lactic acid starter culture, which sounds fancy, but it helps in the fermentation process, giving it a bit of a tang. Makes it taste real good when it’s all cooked up.

Then mix in 34 grams of kosher salt, 18 grams of dextrose, and 10.5 grams of cure #1 along with 11 grams of white pepper. That’ll get you started right!

Now, some folks wonder, is this stuff gluten free? Well, the folks who make it say there ain’t no gluten added during the makin’. So, if you’re watchin’ that, you might be in luck!

Whether you call it pork roll or Taylor ham, it’s a good addition to breakfast or a sandwich. You can fry it up nice and crispy or just warm it on the skillet. Either way, it’ll have you comin’ back for more. So next time you’re at the store, don’t forget to look for this yummy meat!
