Today, I wanted to try something a little different in the kitchen. I’ve been seeing all these fancy recipes online with tons of ingredients, and honestly, it’s a bit overwhelming. So I thought, why not go back to basics? That’s how I came up with the idea for “simple ingredients.”
I opened my fridge and started pulling things out. Some leftover chicken, a couple of sad-looking carrots, half an onion that was definitely seen better days. I also found a bag of potatoes in the pantry that I’d completely forgotten about. I’m not gonna lie. It wasn’t much to work with.

First, I chopped up the onion and threw it into a pan with a little bit of oil. While that was sizzling, I diced the potatoes and carrots. Nothing fancy, just rough chunks. I added those to the pan, too. The chicken was already cooked, so I just shredded it up with a fork and tossed it in with the vegetables.
The Seasoning
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic Powder
- A pinch of paprika for color.
I mixed everything, covered the pan, and let it cook on low heat. I wasn’t really sure how long it would take, so I just kept checking on it every now and then. It took nearly 30 minutes.
And you know what? It turned out pretty good! The potatoes were soft, the chicken was still juicy, and the whole thing was actually quite flavorful. Nothing fancy, nothing groundbreaking, but a solid, tasty meal made with just a few simple ingredients. It was warm and my family really enjoyed it.
Sometimes, it’s nice to take a break from all the complicated stuff and just appreciate the beauty of simplicity. Next time I will try to add a tomato or some other vegetable I have on hand. It feels really good to create a delicious meal with simple ingredients.
